ORCHARD ROAD CHRISTMAS DECOR

It is that time of the year again where the streetscape along Orchard Road is decorated to usher in the Christmas season.

This year, the theme seemed to be stars, globes and hearts.

Forum has put up their traditionally decorated Christmas tree

PUPPIES

These puppies look cute but once they grow bigger, they will outgrow their cuteness.

FICUS

I cannot remember what is the botanical name of this Ficus with interesting fig fruit that looked like an inflorescence.

MILLETTIA RETICULATA

This purple flower climber flowered recently again although this tropical Wisteria is not as impressive as the real thing.

CERBERA

I have seen this red-leaved Cerbera flowered but I have never seen the flowers in this dark chocolate colour before. Do they fade from pink to this, I wonder?

ORCHIDS

These orchids were in bloom recently.
Grammatophhyllum speciosum (Tiger Orchid)

Bulbophyllum vaginatum

WEST HIGHLAND TERRIER

This breed of dog always remind me of my Paw Prince. What a lovely cut doggie!

LUMNITZERA LITTOREA

I planted this mangrove Lumnitzera (Family: Combretaceae) at the Discovery slope some time ago and I am always happy to see the vibrant clusters of red flowers.

TAXODIUM DISTICHIUM

I have never seen a beautiful specimen of a Taxodium (Common Name: Bald Cypress; Family: Taxodiaceae) that grows here in Singapore. They always look so unimpressive to me and I hope that one day I can see it growing in its native habitat.
cones can seen at the terminal end of branches

BARRINGTONIA JOSEPHSTAALENSIS

This is one unusual slow growing Barringtonia with striking pink new leaf flushes and I wonder if it maintains a monopodial growth habit as a sapling and whether it will branch out as it grows bigger.

ANNONA GLABRA

These are the fruits of the Annona glabra that was planted at the Discovery garden and the photos were taken in mid Feb 2014.

LUDWIGIA AND MOTTLED EMIGRANT

These photos were taken in August showing a large Ludwigia plant with yellow flowers that attracted the Mottled Emigrant butterfly.

15 MAGICAL PEBBLE PATHS

A friend sent me this link of beautifully amazing pebble paths and I think I should do it some credit by putting it up here for reference. I am sure it would be good inspiration for those who wants to do a magical pebble path in the garden! So here's the link and photos.

It comes in several designs where some look like rivers, river beds and there is a peacock one too. I guess designs are only limited to our power of imagination.
