WEEDS

Today's weather - sunny

These are some interesting weeds on the forest floor. The first is the germinating Cerbera odollam (common name: Pong Pong) seedling. The second shows a young Stachytarpheta plant (common name: Snakeweed) while the last two shows a beautiful Ludwigia which grows in boggy or wet soils. How splendid!

COMBRETUM ROTUNDIFOLIUM

Weather - sunny

This is a Combretum rotundifolium climber (Common Name: Monkey Brush Vine; Family: Combretaceae). Unlike the Combretum constrictum, this one has an inflorescence which is longer rather than round.

CALANTHE

The Calanthe has grown much since the last time I took photos of it. The leaves have outgrown the entire plant considerably.

I wonder when it would start to flower?

SUPERTREES

These are photos of the 3 clusters of Supertrees at the Arrival Space, Silver Leaf Garden and Lion Grove. There is an aerial walkway around 24 m above the ground linking 2 of these Supertrees at the Lion Grove.

BRACKET FUNGUS

Today's weather - sunny

These are overlapping bracket fungi of various ages on the base or collar of this tree. The newly bloomed ones are lighter and brighter in colour while the more aged ones are darker and closer to the colour of the tree trunk.

When these appear, it is a manifestation or sign of internal decay within the tree. Judging from the amount of bracket fungi here, it is definitely not a good sign.

I was so impressed with this website when I first came across it recently. In fact, I still am and have created the following effects as samples. I leave it to the before and after photos to show the difference.

The animated ones are cool and may be huge in size, but I think it is absolutely worth it and would come in very handy for presentations. I am not able to upload two animated effects though - ripple and reflection, possibly because of the large file size.

These effects are:
