TREE DUCKS

I love taking photos of these subjects, which are frequently found visiting the kidney pond.

COLOURFUL TREES

This installation of colourful trees and a red frame car is interesting but I couldn't remember where I took it.

I have seen this tree before but somehow I couldn't remember what it is.

TREE ART

This is another piece of tree art again. Can we ever create a growing building development like how a plant continues to grow, branch, flower, fruit and set seeds?

BARE TREE

This is not a dead tree but one which shed its leaves and is sprouting new ones. It's identity will be reviewed soon.

The branching and leaf arrangement of a tree is sometimes so artistic, picturesque or even magical, especially when viewed by mere mortals like me from down below.

BUTTERFLY GARDEN

What makes you feel good? For me, sometimes being in an enclosure and so close to these small beautiful creatures just makes my day.

These photos were taken on 26 Jan 10 at HortPark's Butterfly Garden enclosure.

The first is a photo of a locally extinct species - the Common Sergeant. It's just amazing to be standing less than a metre away from a small (~ 2 cm) creature that inhabited this small island before they became extinct from rapid urbanization and development.

The second to fourth photos show the Leopard Lacewings and Taiwan Tree Nymph busy feeding on the nectar plant Antigonon and an orange slice.
