PROMENADE MRT

The plants have really grown since I last posted about it. Till today, I find the large bed of purple Tradescantia pallida a tad too strong in colour against the lighter green Polyscias fruticosa.

EUODIA (VARIEGATED)

I think this is a Euodia or is it a Polyscias? We only had a couple of them and I planted some beside the small pond at the Golden Garden.

I don't know what else to say other than the colouration looks very unique for this plant. In addition, it seems very pest and disease free.

WEEDS

Interestingly, I came across this Rain Tree weed in the flowerbed outside the Promenade MRT station.

There were definitely other weeds in the bed but this one really stood out. But anyway, I doubt they would allow it to grow up into a big Rain Tree, would they?

By the way, the combination of yellowish-green Polyscias fruticosa (Family: Araliaceae; common name: Ming Aralia) and purple-leaved Tradescantia pallida (Family: Commelinaceae; common name: Purple Heart, Purple Queen) was quite interesting.

NB on 2 Sep 10: Just as I expected, the Rain Tree weed was removed.

GRAY, WHITE & GREEN

I like this combination of different shaped leaves of gray, white and green colours from the Graptophyllum pictum and Polyscias balfouriana.

This is subtle beauty achieved by putting together some common plants. So who says you always need something out of this world.
