WEED

Once again, this is another assortment of pieces of nature's art.

The reddish leaved leaves appear to be that of malnourished plants.

NURSERY PLANTS

This is a range of amazingly beautiful plants in our nursery.

I am not sure if the first is a yellow flower Pachypodium? The clumps of different cultivars of Tillandsia are so eye-catchingly stunning!

The white flower Acanthaceae weed may not be very attractive but it is certainly unique. In the heart of a bromeliad was found the flowers. There was also a variegated Iris with interesting leaves and wonderful flowers

CHORISIA

These very beautiful deciduous trees previously known by the genus Ceiba (common name: Silk Floss Tree; Family: Malvaceae) were highly sought after by me when I was planting up HortPark in the past. However, I wasn't able to get any specimens of them.

Now, I finally got the chance to plant them at the Hub. At the planted site, 2 of the species and cultivars were flowering. The palmate leaves, pink blooms and plump trunk of thorns looked absolutely gorgeous! Nature is really a work of art.

NIGHTSCAPE

These photos were taken right outside my office building. The lit Marina Bay Sands (MBS) and the Central Business District (CBD) were in the background against a foreground of silhouetted palms and Super Trees.

COLLARED KINGFISHER

What was the Collared Kingfisher doing in the top photo, perched on the Rain Tree branch? Was it showing me its white collar, I wonder?

Their presence here is a common sight. In fact, this garden has a high diversity of birds and it is a norm to see different species of them if one is observant enough.

DOVE

I don't know what it is called but there are always so many of these little doves around. In fact, I often see them walking on the ground instead of flying around. In time to come, they would evolve into plump dwarf chickens.

ALPINIA CALCARATA

 Today's weather - sunny
I think this is the Alpinia calcarata (common name: Greater Galangal, Java Galangal) and it is just so lovely with its white petals and reddish striped lower lip.
