This range of cool plants have it going for them. Ranging from Dianthus 'Silver Star', Fuchsia, Nepenthes, Cyclamen, Pelargonium, variegated Senecio macroglossus etc, they are a group of plants that demand a cold treatment with a lower ambient temperature or drop in temperature for optimum growth and flowering.
By the way, the highland Nepenthes produced inflorescences of male flowers. Outdoors, the tall grasses, Cleome hassleriana, Verbena bonariensis, Tibouchina and Pistia stratiotes dominate the landscape on land and in water.

ALOYSIA VIRGATA
I planted these few Aloysia virgata (common name: Sweet Almond Verbena, Incense Bush; Family: Verbenaceae) recently and see how some of them are rewarding me with their beautiful pure scented white inflorescences? It is true the flowers have a strong almond fragrance. Unfortunately the branching can be quite haphazard.
Previously, this plant was mislabeled as Buddleia asiatica, which actually has larger inflorescences typical of this genus, locally. In fact, this genus reminds me of the christian name Aloysius.

VERBENA
These photos came with the previous set. Are they Verbena shrubs? They certainly do look like plants from the Verbenaceae Family. Aren't they just pretty?

TORENIA HYBRIDA

Frankly, this bed has always been an attraction and inspiration to me with its interesting array of annual plants e.g. Verbena, and I always look forward to the next display.
It is interesting how its pair of stamens are held up like an arch to frame the deeply coloured tubular corolla.
