CURCUMA 'LADDAWAN'

This is the Curcuma that I purchased during SGF 10. After googling it, I think it is known as the Curcuma 'Laddawan', a F1 hybrid between Curcuma cordata x Curcuma alismatifolia from Thailand.

Anyway, this post is about the pest found on this plant from the Zingiberaceae Family. Out of nowhere, the black aphids seem to gather like an army on the green leaves and pink bracts. Fortunately, they didn't seem to damage the plant at all. Luckily, this pest also did not spread to the other plants of mine and is confined only to the 2 Curcumas that I had.

CURCUMA CULTIVAR

This was another Curcuma cultivar purchased during SGF 10. These photos were taken on 23 Aug 10, 26 Aug 10 and 27 Aug 10 respectively. It is amazing how fast the inflorescence grows within a matter of days.

This was another Curcuma that attracted the black aphids but fortunately, it did not seem as bad as the previous. I will track how long this inflorescence last too, so I would definitely be posting about it in the near future.
