RED

Brownea, Stachytarpheta and Harpullia
These photos don't do justice to the splashes of red in the garden.

At the Fruits and Flowers and the Understorey gardens, the red comes in the form of:

  • fruits of the Harpullia ramiflora,
  • flowers of Brownea grandiceps,
  • flowers of Stachytarpheta mutabilis and
  • flowers of Acalypha reptans

SINGAPORE BOTANIC GARDENS - PART 2

Yes, I posted about this tree Brownea grandiceps in an earlier post because I so love the bunch of orange bouquet like flowers. Years ago, I almost wanted to use it for a friend's hand bouquet for her wedding. The first time I saw this species was when I was managing the Marina City Park and there were a few beautiful specimens of it. Anyway, the petals are some litter I wouldn't mind seeing on the ground.

BROWNEA GRANDICEPS

These are more photos of the new leaf flushes of the Brownea grandiceps tree (common name: Rose of Venezuela, Scarlet Flame Bean; Family: Fabaceae).

The next thing I look forward to is its flowering but I think this would take a long time considering that the 2 numbers I planted in HortPark are still so small.

BROWNEA GRANDICEPS

These are the new pendulous leaf flushes of the Brownea grandiceps tree, that are similar to those of Maniltoa and Saraca trees. The leaves are densely spotted or patchy in coloration and turn uniformly green and erect as the leaves age over a period of days. If this is not interesting, I don't know what is.
