PSEUDOMUSSAENDA FLAVA

I took this photo in a hurry and it was not as clear as I would have wanted it to be. But anyway, I managed to capture this Common Mormon Butterfly visiting the flowers of the Pseudomussaenda flava (synonym: Mussaenda lutea, Mussaenda luteola, Mussaenda glabra, Mussaenda incana; common name: Dwarf Yellow Mussaenda, White Wings; Family: Rubiaceae) for nectar.

GARDEN OF SEASONS

These butterflies were spotted at the GOS and they were the seasons:
  1. Common Grass Yellow on a common garden weed Vernonia cinerea (Common Vernonia)
  2. Common Palmfly on the Bambusa lako (Black Bamboo)
  3. Plain Tiger on Cosmos caudatus
  4. Common Grass Yellow on Leea rubra
  5. Common Five Spot Ring on Hamelia patens
  6. Common Mormon on Stachytarpheta mutabilis
  7. Peacock Pansy on Stachytarpheta indica (variegated)

Finally, the last 2 photos were just the freshly formed and unripe fruits of the Flacourtia inermis (Plum-of-Martinique).

CC

I couldn't made up my mind whether Carphalea kirondron or the female Common Mormon was prettier and hence could not decide on the title, so I left it as just 2Cs.

These photos proved 2 things -
  1. butterflies are always in our midst as evident by the presence of this butterfly in the carpark and
  2. Carphalea kirondron is a confirmed nectar plant, like its close relative the Ixora species.
