STAR GRASS

I love to use this Dichromena colorata (Synonym: Rhynchospora colorata; Common Name: Star Rush, White Star Sedge; Family: Poaceae) in areas where it's waterlogged. The star-like bracts and white flowers make it an interesting addition to any site.

Starry starry night, paint your palette blue and grey

WEEDS

These are two beautiful unknown weeds, at least to me. I would definitely keep them because I feel they have potential to be ornamental plants.

Sadly, the first one growing among the Star Grass (Scientific Name: Dichromena colorata) was already removed.

As for the second one which looks like a Torenia to me, I managed to harvest some of them for planting in waterlogged areas and they are doing well. I hope to see a nice carpet in time to come.

RHYNCHOSPORA LATIFOLIA

From the Cyperaceae Family, this beautiful sedge with white flowers has many common names White Star Grass, Star Rush, White Bracted Sedge and White Topped Sedge.

The synonyms include Dichromena latifolia, R. colorata and D. colorata. This plant makes a good marginal plant and performs well at sites where there is abundant water or with a high ground water table.
