BAY EAST

There were lots of yellow flower Neptunia oleracea (common name: Water Mimosa) in this area and they were all growing in the shallow pools of water. The Ipomoea pes-caprae (common name: Beach Morning Glory, Goat's Foot) is creeping everywhere.

MARGINAL PLANTS

These are all interesting marginal plants that have plant parts that are partially in water and partially above.

In the 1st photo, the yellow flower was from Neptunia oleracea (common name: Water Mimosa; Family: Fabaceae). A link is provided here:

The 2nd - 4th photos showed the Monochoria vaginalis (common name: Heartleaf False Pickerelweed, Oval-Leafed Pondweed) from the Pontederiaceae Family, the arrow-head leaves and the elegant-looking pale blue flowers. A link is attached for reference:

Finally the last 2 photos were the heart-shaped leaves of the Houttuynia cordata from the obscure Saururaceae Family. Apparently this herbaceous plant has some traditional uses, as shown in the link below.

NEPTUNIA OLERACEA

This Water Mimosa planted at the Fruited Trees and Vegetables Garden is commonly eaten in Thailand as a vegetable in its raw state or stir-fried.

It has small yellowish flowers, much like those of the common weed Mimosa indica.
