SENTOSA - PART 8

This is such a nice winding track and we saw this interesting Alstonia and Palaquium obovatum (Griff.) Engl. (synonym: Isonandra obovata; Family: Sapotaceae). Beside this area is the Butterfly Garden and the enclosure is crawling with giant ladybirds.

PALAQUIUM

I was told this is a Palaquium tree from the Sapotaceae Family although we have absolutely no idea what species it is.

The only Palaquium I know is planted at the Water Garden, Flora Stitches and Native Garden and it has a dark bronzy leaf underside. There is also the Palaquium gutta that I am not familiar with.

But to me, this one won them all because of its maroon leaf undersides and reddish new leaf flushes.
