HOME GARDEN

These are the 4 plant species, at HortPark's Home Garden, that I would like to highlight in this particular post. Plants that I have actually described before in other earlier posts. They are respectively the following:
  1. Pisonia alba (variegated)
  2. Begonia rex - cultorum
  3. Suessenguthia multisetosa
  4. Dianella ensifolia
It is just so delightful to see these interesting plants in the garden. So far, I have only seen 2 species of them being available in our commercial plant nurseries.

SUESSENGUTHIA MULTISETOSA

This uncommon plant Columian Petunia (synonym: Ruellia multisetosa) from the Acanthaceae Family was planted by me at the Home Garden in March 10.

Thus far, it has rewarded visitors with abundant flowers. I don't think I have ever seen it without any flowers before.

The trumpet-shaped pinkish flowers are comparatively larger than most other plants from the same family, and the abundant purplish bracts are also relatively attractive on its own.

More information on this rare species can be found in the links below:

SUESSENGUTHIA MULTISETOSA

I cannot remember where I got this plant but we had only 2 of them in the nursery and I just planted 1 out at the Home Garden on 5 Mar 10.

This photo was taken at the nursery before I collected it for planting. Hope this will be a welcome addition to HortPark.

NB on 1 Apr 11: I forgot to update that this plant is identified as Suessenguthia multisetosa.
