BUTIA CAPITATA

This Jelly Palm with silver fronds at the Silver Garden has grown so well and beautifully over the last 2 years.

Recently, it flowered and produced bunches of yellow fruits, also known as Pindo Dates, which can be harvested as they ripen and eaten raw or made into a jelly. The single-seeded fruit is said to give an apricot and banana like flavour.

If the fruits are still on the palm tomorrow, I shall try and taste some of the fruits.
