ORCHARD ROAD CHRISTMAS DECOR

It is that time of the year again where the streetscape along Orchard Road is decorated to usher in the Christmas season.

This year, the theme seemed to be stars, globes and hearts.

GINNY AND SANDY

they didn't seem too excited about the food
It was a while since I last posted photos of Ginny and Sandy. They have been with me to restaurants, cinema and Bay South and Bay East.

SINGAPORE GARDEN FESTIVAL 2012

The Singapore Garden Festival (SGF) is coming up again from 7-15 July 2012. Meanwhile, the exhibit at Orchard Road has attracted attention from passersby who posed for photos. The 3 mascots Benny the bee, Gary the grasshopper and Lindy the Ladybird are prominently featured in the landscape. And I spotted a flowering Brugmansia! Too bad it is so far and out of reach for me to catch a whiff of its fragrance.

DOG

These photos were taken last weekend near the Orchard Cineleisure area. I have seen this breed of dog before although I do not know what it is. But it still looked scarily skinny and undernourished with its almost translucent skin and ribcage beneath.

NB on 7 Jul 12: I was told this is a grey hound.

ORCHARD ROAD

Today's weather - sunny

This is part of the NParks and NSS's butterfly trail that leads from the Singapore Botanic Gardens to Fort Canning Park. Planted at this area beside the Penang Road is one of my favourite foliage plants, the Pseuderanthemum 'Golden'.

I walked past the plants and suddenly felt an impulse to check out for caterpillars. I was lucky because barely a metre away, I saw something on the underside of one of the leaves. When I flipped the leaf over, I saw this beautiful 5 cm long caterpillar of the Autumn Leaf butterfly. In the past before I learnt about butterflies and their breeding, I might freak out if I saw this, but now I am totally comfortable to even hold it in my palm. With a smile across my face, I turned back the leaf and left the small creature to continue feasting on the leaf after taking these photos.

CHRISTMAS

 Today's  weather - sunny
This Christmas was just over and the decor was immediately replaced with Chinese New Year decor. But who can blame them since the latter is less than a month away.

In fact, this year, the sellers would miss out on a huge cut of business since the period for promoting CNY sales is shorter than before.

By the way, this Christmas tree was taken at Orchard Cineleisure.

CHRISTMAS AT ORCHARD

These displays show more Christmas decor at Orchard Road. Gold seemed to be the in colour for this stretch of the road.
