NIGHTSCAPE AT GARDENS BY THE BAY

These night photos were taken using my iphone 5 without any photographic effects applied on them. Frankly, I do kind of like some of the photos taken using my phone compared to my Nikon camera.

HIBISCUS MUTABILIS

The Hibiscus mutabilis finally flowered. I made it a point to check it out but I only managed to use my Nikon camera to capture the transition in colour of the flowers from white to light pink before lunch. I did take the last photo with my iphone 5 camera at 5:33 pm.

STERCULIA

The day after National Day, I was greeted by another sort of fireworks. I walked along the bridge connecting the Malay Garden and Colonial Garden and was pleasantly surprised to find a tree in the Supertree Grove covered with reddish pink fireworks.

My eyesight isn't very good but with the help of my Nikon camera, I managed to take these photos for record. That is the advantage of having a powerful mega-zoom camera because it becomes a pair of binoculars for me. Without which, I would not be able to keep track of the flowering seasons of plants.

NEW

Sandy was the first subject and these were the first photos taken with the new Nikon CoolPix P100 camera. And she seemed so bored and yawned when the top photo was taken.

Yes, I am very pleased with the photographic quality, but I still have some problems with the macro zoom.

NIKON COOLPIX P100

I actually didn't intend to purchase this camera. I know I sound crazy, but I was considering a Fujifilm S2800HD or Olympus SP 800 UZ camera to replace the stolen one.

But I ended up buying this camera instead. At 481 g, it is 95 g heavier than my stolen one. The 10 megapixels is nothing to shout about since some other compact point and shoot cameras offer 14 megapixels. The optical zoom of 26x was a whopping 11x more than my previous one. The LCD display was also 3-inch but it can be tilted at an angle. With backside illumination (BSI), some photos taken with a dark background would look more balanced in its exposure. The macro-zoom is 0.4 inch (about 1 cm) and that looks impressive enough to me.

I tested out the camera just now and I was pleased with the results. So I would definitely post the photos soon, but not after I clear my backlog of photos using my older Sony camera.
