This tree is seldom planted these days because it had been around for a while.
There are apparently "newer" and more interesting species and cultivars of Bauhinia or other trees that are more showy than these, so these are all forgotten and left behind.
The good thing about this hybrid is that it does not produce seed pods that hang on the tree and "uglify" them.
