EUCALYPTUS PTYCHOCARPA

This beautiful free-flowering Eucalyptus is not commonly planted in our landscapes and these photos taken on 12 Jan 10 are testament to why it is a lovely plant that should be introduced to more areas.

It is a medium-sized tree with spectacular pink flowers, that resemble marine anemones (at least to me), when viewed close up.

After the flowers are pollinated, they develop into interesting fruit structures shown below.

Visitors to HortPark can view this tree and its flowers etc if they descend from the steps of Alexandra Arch.
