BOUGAINVILLEA

This is another butterfly related post. These were the newly opened flowers of the Bougainvillea 'Mrs Eva'.

Though small, the whitish ring of fused petals do contrast sharply with the 3 pinkish bracts holding the 3 flowers, although 1 was not opened. Similarly, they have a tubular corolla.

However, I must emphasize that Bougainivlleas have limited nectar within their flowers, so it is not an ideal nectar plant for butterflies.
