BAUHINIA BRACTEATA SSP. BRACTEATA

We got this tree, draping the high arch, identified as Bauhinia bracteata ssp. bracteata although I could find nothing on this name on the web.

This is a beautiful tree form of the Bauhinia from the Fabaceae (Leguminosae) Family. The new leaf flushes on the soft branches are pinkish-red and this is the main draw of this uncommon tree. Don't expect to be wooed by the flowers because they are inconspicuously insignificant and non-showy, unless cream-colour and thin petals appeal to you.
