CEIBA PENTANDRA

I posted about the variegated Kapok or Cotton Tree earlier and this is one normal specimen on a hill slope near the Butterfly Garden.

It recently flowered and produced lots of fruit pods which split to release the cotton and its seeds onto the ground.

Actually the tree is suffering somewhat from nutrient deficiency as evident by the chlorotic leaves. On one of the leaves is actually a Cotton Stainer bug, and a link on this bug is attached below.

The view from this vantage point was actually nice when I looked down at HortPark. At least the place looked greener.
