JATROPHA INTEGERRIMA (VARIEGATED)

The Jatropha integerrima is not a new plant to gardeners since it has been around for a long time.

But, I love the variegated leaves of this Shanghai Beauty. Although jarring, it really brings out the red flowers very well. I bought this batch of plants many many months back but did not plant it until recently at the HortPark Carpark.

In fact at the carpark, there are a few stands of 2 m tall common leaved ones growing there. My intention was for them to be grown as small trees so that the flowers are visible above cars. Unfortunately I had to resort to removing quite a few of them before November 09 because they were heavily infested with mealy bugs and scales.

Anyway, these photos were captured on 17 Feb 10.
