I love ornamental grasses and we do have quite a fair bit of them planted at HortPark.
However, this Melinis nerviglumis have disappeared almost completely from HortPark. Another species Melinis repens previously planted at HortPark's Water Garden was overpruned by the former maintenance contractor and was not replaced.
Anyway, this full and compact grass does not like heavy wet soils and prefers drying out in between watering. They can be propagated by the ripe seed heads. These photos were taken outside the Prototype Glass Houses on 27 Feb 10.
