CALOPHYLLUM INOPHYLLUM

This had to be one of the oldest Calophyllum inophyllum (common name: Ballnut) that I had seen.

Because of this tree, the design of the Botany Centre was amended to accommodate this huge tree. It is indeed very large for this species.

I think recently one of the branches must have snapped, resulting in the pruning wound captured on this photo. Hopefully, it would be able to survive for a long time to come.

Anyway, the Ficus globosa growing on its trunk and branches is quite a spectacle to look at, especially when the fruits are ripe and orangey in colour.
