The pink flowers of the Torch Ginger, or pink torch, is shaved in the bud stage and eaten in our local Rojak and Laksa dishes. The red flowers of the red torch, on the other hand, are not eaten and I wonder why.
Anyway, perched on one of the red inflorescence was a Common Palmfly butterfly. I supposed it was sipping nectar from the flowers.
