SAMANEA SAMAN & POMETIA PINNATA

The Yellow Rain Tree amongst the landscape near the Visitor's Centre of Singapore Botanic Gardens is so apparent with its yellow compound leaves against a backdrop of leafy green.

In contrast, the Pometia pinnata (common name: Island Lychee; Family: Sapindaceae) in the same vicinity does not seem to be so obvious although it is a very handsome tree. After so many months, this tree near the Nassim Gate water feature has finally recovered and is sprouting lots of lime green and pink coloured new leaf flushes. I love to see the rows of these colourful trees along the NS highway in Malaysia and it adds a certain appeal to the long drive. A link on this tree is shown below:
