This is a beautiful Glory Tree or Purple Spray Tree from the Melastomataceae Family. Compared to the more common and darker purple-flowered Tibouchina urvilleana, this one has smaller leaves and lighter coloured flowers.The structure of the leaves, flowers and fruits do bear some resemblance to those of Melastoma malabathricum.
