This appears to be an Acanthaceae Family groundcover that grows well in the sun and shade. In fact, it is growing into the water!
However, I do not know the identity of this plant. It looked kind of relatively pest and disease free too. So it is definitely a good plant to recommend for the shade areas if you don't want to grow the usual Piper, Philodendron etc.
