Located directly beside Thian Hock Keng temple, this small pocket park is another one of those jewels that forms part of the heritage and cultural trail of Chinatown to showcase the five elements of chinese culture: water, fire, wood, metal and earth.Three of the five associated colours are also depicted as the logo of Chinatown on the 3 storyboards found within this park. I am pleased to have been given the opportunity to be involved in the management of this park then and learnt all about the above.
The numerous sculptures were also deliberately commissioned to depict the beginning of telok ayer, indian settlers and chinese processions back in those days. A link on the five elements and colours is shown below:
