EUGENIA UNIFLORA

This is a Eugenia uniflora from the Myrtaceae Family. The new leaf flushes are red and the flowers are white.

The fruits are edible and turn from beige to red over time, and are sometimes used for jams. Hence, the common name is Surinam Cherry or Brazilian Cherry. The lighter coloured fruits are usually sour whilst the darker red-maroon ones taste sweeter.
