What caught my attention was the Mussaenda erythrophylla (common name: Red Flag Bush, Tropical Dogwood, Ashanti Blood) from the Rubiaceae Family. It is not a recently introduced plant and has been around for a while but has not been commonly planted.
The more common varieties include the pink-bracts, white bracts varieties. This one has bright, vibrant red bracts, subtending the smaller, less conspicuous red flowers. A link is shown below:
