There are 2 types of grasses shown here from the Poaceae (Gramineae) Family.

The 1st is an unknown variegated grass.

The 2nd is a grass that has been used more extensively in recent years. Known as the Pennisetum alopecuroides (synonym: Alopecurus hordeiformis, Panicum alopecuroides, Pennisetum compressum, Pennisetum japonicum; common name: Chinese Pennisetum, Foxtail Fountain Grass), the whitish-purple seed head and its floppy leaf blades are what makes this grass popular.
